super minimal coin bank

Picture_4

I believe this is the first coin bank ever that had me look. It was designed by swiss Bruno Limberger (1934-1994) who was a devoted architect, artist, and host. (I can’t stand those cheesy coin banks that seem to accumulate in every kid’s room. I know, I know, I am such a design snob.)

  1. I’ll try to remember to send you a pic of my coin bank… It’s a seventies style owl (an “owlybank?”) of the BL Kantonalbank. I think it will meet with your approval!

  2. So pretty, but I’d need another piggy bank to save pennies for this one! ;)

  3. I agree. This is a coin bank I would like to have in my home. Beautiful!

  4. This would also make a great x-acto blade trash can.

  5. What a great bank. Though not quite as minimal, our son has this elephant bank by Jonathan Adler in his room …

  6. Wait wait wait: Bruno Limberger? “…those cheesy coin banks…?” Pleeeeze!

  7. Hey, I don’t work for DWR, but I thought you might like to know that they have this bank (or sharps container?) marked way, way down today.
