question for my readers: pros in sustainable design

(image)

There are more and more sustainable products and options available for how we live our lives, but who are the real masterminds behind all this new stuff? Who are they? What shops do they work for/run? What have they done, what are they working on and what’s their vision?

Do you know of any designers that made themselves a name in sustainable design? If so, please list their/your portfolio as a comment below. Just curious!

Sodamemory

Picture_10_2

Sodapix, a swiss stock photo agency, offers a fun online memory game. I would love to have an actual copy of this to play with at home.

And while you are on their site, check out their impressive color search filter feature. After you’ve done a search, click on one of the colored squares to filter the results by overall color. Fantastic.

Type Trumps

Typetrumps_2
Typetrumps2

Just in time for the Christmastime consumer-fest, Face37 has released Type Trumps. Type Trumps, a play on Top Trumps, is a game in which different typefaces are attributed numerical values. These figures are then used to enable the cards to be won or lost using some of the tried and true Top Trumps rules. This novelty is available at Magma Books.

Freitag iPhone sleeve

Picture_8

Just introduced: The new F22 iPhone sleeve by FREITAG features individual roadkill tarp designs, a nifty quick-accept strap (inspired by parachutists) and a nice, velvety lining that automatically cleans your precious. Arguably the next best Swiss invention since Ricola. I like it!

Oliver Jeffer’s Lost and Found now animated!

Laf

Studio aka has completed a 25-minute film adaptation of Oliver Jeffer’s book Lost And Found. The film, directed by Philip Hunt, will debut on the UK’s Channel Four on Christmas Eve. When Oliver was visiting the studio he showed us snippet. Seeing Oliver’s characters come to life, it doesn’t get much better than that. I can’t wait to get this DVD for Ella.

Magic Pen writes Helvetica

Pen11

Ahhhh… technology. The geniuses at Plexifilm have spent the past two years developing a Sharpie pen that actually writes in Helvetica! This pen is so experimental that it’s priceless… literally. You can’t buy one, but you can get one free with any Helvetica-related purchase (DVD, T-shirt, etc.). Get your free pen while they last. It’s a great gift for that person in your life with sloppy handwriting…

* Warning: if you are John Downer or Marian Bantjes then the pen will actually write in Helvetica. Otherwise, your results may vary. Do not swallow. Keep away from open flame and co-workers. May cause drowsiness.

made me laugh!
