Ji Lee just pointed me to one of his latest projects: Goollery is an online gallery dedicated to collect, archive and showcase some of the most creative, fun and innovative Google-related projects from people around the world.
Goollery is an independent project by Ji Lee, Jeanelle Mak, Francisco Hui, Karishma Sheth and Andrew Bonventre. (Please note, Goollery IS NOT a Google website.)
(thank you Ji!)
Who wouldn’t buy and wear socks that are graphically awesome and are called ‘Happy Socks‘? Love it!
(thank you Nate!)
I had the pleasure of having coffee with Dylan Fareed this morning, mastermind (design and coding power) behind Arlosites.com.
Arlo/Artists is a fantastic way to build a great-looking portfolio site. You can pick from nicely designed themes, custom domains and a truly powerful templating system for full control. Arlo/Artists lets you have unlimited portfolios and a clear interface to let you focus on organizing and promoting your work.
Considering he designed and coded the entire system himself and that they are coming out with a gallery version in the coming weeks, which is even more complex, I am convinced Dylan never sleeps. Ever.

In an era of mobile devices, instant connectivity, and automated mailing lists and notifications, it is all too easy for people to contact us. As a consequence, we live our lives just trying to keep our heads above water. Our ability to prioritize and control our focus is crippled by an unyielding flow of incoming communication: email, texts, tweets, facebook messages, phone calls, and so on (and on).

I had Matthew, mastermind behind all things NOOKA visit me in my studio a few weeks ago and he showed me his Nooka Asset Organizer (=wallet) which is simply stunning. It’s fabulously rubbery and stretchy. Definitely a great gift!

Next week I’ll be starting as a part time teacher at Parsons The New School for Design here in New York. (Yay!) My goal will be to educate a group of approx 12 students about web design and give them an introduction to designing and planning a site. I am (cautiously) excited and humbled by the learning curve that’s ahead of me, never having taught before.
Are you a professional teaching part-time? If so, what advice would you give someone like me who starting to teach? What was your biggest teaching epiphany? I would love to hear your experience!

Hook and Pinboard in one. Nice!

Sarah decided to leave the corporate world behind her and has set up shop in her own home. Her home, round the corner from Portobello Market where she has a stall, is now overflowing with treasures and delights and she welcomes visitors with tea and cakes. Supermarketsarah.com

Brooklyn Fare is my alltime new favorite supermarket just around the corner from our apartment in Boerum Hill/Downtown Brooklyn. Their coffee cups made me laugh. Thumbs up to Matteo Bologna and his team over at Mucca, well done! Oh, and by the way, Brooklyn Fare is not a chain, this is their first store. Impressive implementation of beautiful design right off the start.

This simplification of two remotes made me smile.
Under or on the desk, next to the computer, or behind the TV, loose tangled cables are always untidy dust traps. CableBox is the solution to solve these issues. Simply place your power strips or surge protector inside CableBox. No need to unplug anything first. Then stow away the surplus cable lengths, close the lid and done. Designed with cable outlets either side of the box, CableBox will fit almost every size power strip with extra space for the cords, adapters, etc. BlueLounge Cable Box hides your cable mess. Yes, please! Ordered!

Are you curious to know how people live on the other side of the world? What does Moscow look like between three and four in the afternoon? What happens in Rio de Janeiro between eleven and twelve at night? See the personal impressions of city life which artists across the globe have filmed. Follow what happens from hour to hour in more than hundred cities on cityoneminutes.org.
In City One Minutes life in each city is divided into 24 one minute portraits, each depicting one hour of the day. Every film is a personal impression of the city in which the artist lives or in which he is staying.

After spending a little too much time in front of the computer my friend Arianna thought she’d get back to basics and get her hands dirty. She makes these posters because cutting giant stacks of paper, setting wood type and scrubbing ink off her hands feels good.

Here’s a chuckle for my german speaking readers: Key chain that reads Saustall. Made me laugh.
Oh my, I just fell in love with these Trolleys by Müller Möbelfabrikation! I wish we had these in our studio, instead we have some slightly lame but at least affordable IKEA ones. Me want! (For more info click on the individual image)
