I just got a good chuckle out of this iphone app called AntiMosquito Fumigator. The app claims to keep mosquitos away as long as you keep it running in the background. It emits a high-pitched sound that humans don’t hear but mosquitos do and not appreciate. I’ll gladly give it a try this coming weekend, but I admit, I am not too hopeful.
(thank you sorella)

Hilarious. If is does work, I’d be SUPER impressed. Mosquitoes are a scourge on my yard and if I could make them suffer, I’d be pretty happy about that. :)

Wow, that would be a lifesaver, I hope it keeps those bloody “no-see-ums” here in Miami away too!

As awesomerobot points: sound DOES NOT repel mosquitos. It’s just a high tech scam

Also not a great scam in the sense that they’re giving it away for free.

such stupid thing, even if you can produce a high frequency sound with the software, the iphone/ipad speakers are not capable of reproducing that sound. just scam

I think high-pitched music repels teen-agers though… so it might have a use.
