I just stopped over at my friend BB’s blog and had to chuckle upon discovering the-above-oh-so-familiar photo. It’s the »How to Work Better« Mural is by Swiss artists Fischli & Weiss and covers an office building in Zurich-Oerlikon. You can prominently see it from the train when you get into Zurich station.

Khoi, good question. Well, I think it has do to with english being much catchier and most of all shorter. You can say way more in less and shorter words. German words are never-ending. :)

Thanks for the photo. I lived in St Gallen for seven years and always tried to read the list when visiting Zurich. Makes me miss Switzerland.

It makes so much sense in English, but I guess it wouldn’t for some other languages, like mine, Italian. It needs a re-interpretation, not just a translation of course, for each different language, I suppose. Try to say “be calm” to an Italian and he’ll get mad on you. Ahahahaha!!!

If you’ve ever worked in a call center providing technical support, you know that #2 through #9 are mandatory, but #1 is impossible. And I’m not sure anyone under 25 years old adher to #1. They’ve been programmed to multitask from birth.
