Balancing Elephant

I hope I’ll be someday able to see the balancing elephant by French artist Daniel Firman up close. Stunning.

  1. You just missed one! There was a balancing elephant sculpture by another artist (Miquel Barcelo) in Union Square from fall 2011 through spring 2012. My Modern Met featured it here (http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/amazing-gravity-defying-elephant-in-union-square) and I walked by it frequently on my way to work. It was very cool!

I can only imagine how stunning a sculpture like this would look in a gallery or museum, as you have illustrated above.

  2. there’s used to be one next to Mies’s Barcelona Pavilion as well! i think it’s the same sculpture mentioned in Katie’s comment – maybe it was just moved.

  3. There was one in Epernay, France at the Pommery house.
    April 2012.
