Pixel Ruler

Pixel Ruler, the ultimate tool for responsive screen size sketching. Heavy-duty gauge stainless steel ruler with pixel increments. Markers for mobile, tablet and widescreen (laptop) sizing. Brilliant and oh so nerdy!

  1. Have you viewed your site banner on a retina display?

  2. I agree, it looks awful. for a design blog that is really a mistake.

  3. No need to look at it in a Retina display. It’s always been pretty bad even in normal displays (I’m currently viewing this in a non-retina MBA).

As for the ruler I feel we need one of those scaler rules, the ones with 6 scales on each edge of its three sides.

So we could have one for points (which are fixed), one for mm, another for inches and then three for different pixel densities.

That to me would really be useful. This is cute, but not really useful in this multi-density world.

  4. Its use is pretty limited. As far as I can see there is only one device with 150 ppi, the Kindle DX.

  5. @dennisD7. what difference does actual screen resolution make? paper is resolution agnostic.

you’re not going to hold this up to your screen.

also explains why you can add pens in your order, and it looks like it ships with a mechanical PENCIL

    Pixel Ruler features:
    – Stainless steel ruler with with 150 PPI (pixels per inch) scale
    – Zebra mechanical pencil
    – 2 UI Stencils Stickers

for the DX, the ruler is 1:1 scale.

  6. “Blow through t-shirt ideas like a stark-raving-mad-woman.”

That’s the description for their t shirt stencil. They need to get their copy and their ethos sorted. Damn.

  7. No thanks. I still have my pica pole. And actually, I’m a bit surprised web-centric folks would use paper and pencils. ; )

  8. + for the term “paper is resolution agnostic”, can’t wait for opps to use this!
+hartley – no kidding. and i admire your restraint in the choice to not all cap your second remark. so i will go there – WHO STILL USES PENCILS AND PAPER TO PLOT OUT WEB DESIGN? unless they are in a restaurant/bar and drawing out their eureka! moment, i guess.

+ for all comments giving me my morning giggle, ty.

  9. It’s truly very complicated in this busy life to listen news on Television, so I simply
use internet for that reason, and obtain the most up-to-date
    news.
