Nonetheless, and I honestly praise your list, but doesn’t its very existence suggest that the fact of the matter is that it actually *is* harder to find female speakers?

  120. Hello

I think this is something you would like. The equalisters was founded by a swedish woman called Lina Thomsgård (also the PR-agent for Swedish singer Robyn).

    http://rattviseformedlingen.se/equalisters

Equalisters is an equality project aiming to correct the imbalances of representation in media, culture, business and other contexts. We believe that when it comes to including competent women and people from other underrepresented groups, excuses that claim that “there just weren’t any”, are no longer good enough.

To prove our point and contribute to a more equal society, we provide a service that generates positive, proactive, and concrete recommendations, compiled in long lists of people who can balance up inequalities of representation in any given context.

Here in sweden a PR consultant named Lina Thomsgård started something called rättviseförmedlingen which is an initiative that promotes equality in representation and works through facebook and twitter. So when there is a need for an expert of some sort the argument we only found men wont be valid, because they have already done the job of finding compentent women for them. I saw on wikipedia that they started up in england and the us as well, maybe that’s something for you to be a part of.

  188. For whatever it’s worth: Being a female entrepreneur doesn’t make you an interesting speaker by default. It’s great to see a list like this but at the end of the day, if you are a conference organizer, you need a person (man or woman) that can deliver a message, entertain an audience, and fill seats/sell tickets. Just being a woman (or man) and an entrepreneur does not guarantee that one, two, or all three of the needs above are fulfilled.

  190. Rebecca Palm & Katie Vahle, founders of CoPatient
    Elizabeth Bacon, founder of DHealth

  191. Tina, the problem isn’t finding women entrepreneurs. It’s finding ones that are good speakers and have a message. I pick speakers that I can read their blog and clearly see they have an impactful message. Maybe I’m different, I don’t look for a big name, I look for a message that our attendees need to hear.

    Let’s take your list.
    1) I go to her website click her twitter profile https://twitter.com/mmiranda and find nothing but silly pictures. Her bio is interesting but she’s not putting a message that she knows or has something to really share.
    2) Again, why would pick this person http://caterina.net/? Her blog has nothing interesting there.
    3) I click around her link and find drawings of books, I don’t get it, what would she speak about? Drawing books?
    4) I did some googling and found her ted talk, it’s really good. http://www.ted.com/talks/rufus_griscom_alisa_volkman_let_s_talk_parenting_taboos.html

So maybe to promote women speakers there should be a directory. Not to what company they’re involved with but what topics they speak about, with links to blog posts, links to past speaking sessions.
