  1. This looks nice but I’m puzzled by two things:

    1) Why do they need my Facebook Login? I only want access my Google Calendar. I don’t need Facebook Events, Facebook Contacts, LinkedIn mixed with my Calendar.

    2) This is free so how do they make money? As they say, there is no such thing as a free lunch. Therefore I am wondering what they do with all that data they store on their servers.

I know they say it’s a private project by two people in NY. I think it would be great to get a bit more transparency. Perhaps introduce the people behind the project on blog of their web site.

  2. Thanks for your feedback Tom.

    1. Sunrise also pulls your Facebook birthdays and events along with your Google Calendar. We’re currently working on an alternative login without Facebook, just email based.

    2. We don’t store any of your data on our servers, we only get the infos from FB and Google’s servers (through their API) and display it in a nice way. We wanted to make the calendar accessible for everyone and not just paid customers. We’ll make money out of premium features later down the road.

Most of the press mentioned who we were, we used to design at Foursquare in NY and are now focusing full time on Sunrise.

  3. Is it only for iPhone 5? Because in my iPhone 4 it crashes before the complete launch. I can only see the orange bar and the white background.

My friend, with an iPhone 4S, is also having this problem.

  4. This looks great but, since I don’t have a Facebook account, it’s useless to me. Looking forward to the version that is just email based.

  5. @Eduardo
The app works on any iPhone with iOS 6 installed.
You should try to fully quit the app, we’ve seen similar issue earlier today, but got quickly resolved by itself after a few tries.

  6. Jeremy, already did it a thousand times. Not working.

  7. Strangely, everybody is complaning about problems with the app launch but I’m using it completely fine.
The app have some bugs with notifications here, though.
I turn off the notifications on some calendars and it keeps notificating me about it.

  8. Just updated my iOS 6 to the latest version and the app still crashes. Sad.

  9. hi there. I’ve been really enjoying sunrise but over the last day or so I’ve not been able to open the app. it crashes on launch in the same way as described above- just shows orange and white for 15-20 secs then the app closes. I have quit it from background many times, restarted the phone and done a soft reset. will try to delete and redownload since it’s a great App which I cannot do without.

    iOS 6.1.3 iPhone 4.

  10. @jimbo: This shouldn’t be the case, feel free to email us at [email protected]. We’re planning to release an update very soon for iOS7! Thanks for being a loyal user.
