Tips from Kurt Vonnegut

1. Find a subject you care about.
2. Do not ramble, though.
3. Keep it simple.
4. Have the guts to cut.
5. Sound like yourself.
6. Say what you mean to say.
7. Pity the readers.
– Kurt Vonnegut

Exchange ‘Pity the readers’ with ‘Pity the audience’ and this makes for really solid advice when preparing for a talk.

  1. What font did you use for the quote?

  2. Ummm, aren’t tips 2, 3, & 4 all different ways of saying the same thing, so is he following his own advice?

NB Vonnegut is one of my favourite authors, and I love it when he goes off piste and rambles a bit
