Interesting. Although the journalist hints at one important difference between Alibaba and its western equivalents: the Chinese market is indeed much more competitive both on the online sales and online payment markets.
As suggested in the video, products like the mobile platform WeChat are huge challengers as many Chinese customers went directly from offline to mobile. WeChat is increasingly becoming the integrated Whastapp + Facebook + Electronic Wallet + portable supermarket of Chinese customers.
