Perfect, Crispy Bacon

Here’s how you make perfect, crispy bacon:

1. Line a pan with the bacon. You can use a glass baking pan, a steel or aluminum baking sheet, or even a cast iron pan.
2. Put the pan into a cold, unheated oven. Use the middle rack.
3. Set the oven to bake at 400°F (204°C).
4. Set the timer for 20 minutes. It may take a bit more or less time, depending on your oven.
5. Remove the pan from the oven. Place the bacon on a plate (or a plate lined with a paper towel if you’re grease averse).
6. Enjoy the best, crispiest, most delicious bacon you’ve ever had.

Thanks Bacon Method for teaching me to put the bacon in a COLD oven. Ah!

  1. This is glorious!

  2. YES! This has to be the best way to make bacon. I line a baking sheet with aluminum foil so clean-up is extremely easy. Plus, no battle wounds from frying it on the stove!

  3. I would just like to note that I tried this and it works PERFECTLY :)

  4. Dan Benjamin is the greatest.

  5. Take a glass pie plate.
Line with paper towel (2 sheets)
Put 4 pieces of bacon next to each other in the plate.
Cover with 2 sheets of paper towel.
    Put in microwave.
Cook on full power for 4 minutes. (Microwave ovens vary– you might need more or less time)
    Remove.
Perfect crisp bacon and no need to warm up the house with a hot oven.

  6. Soak bacon in cold water before frying: prevents shrinking as much and results in glorious crispy bacon.
