Ostrich Pillow Junior

I wrote about the adult version of the Ostrich Pillow in January of 2012. They now just released a kids version. I continue to be intrigued.

The Human Body

The Human Body, the first app by Tinybop is finally out. It was illustrated by the wonderful Kelli Anderson, who wrote an interesting blog post about the process.

The Human Body lets you explore a working model of the body. Every part is beautifully animated and interactive: the heart beats, guts gurgle, lungs breathe, the skin feels, and eyes see. Designed for kids ages 4+ to discover what we’re made of and how we work.

Do yourself (and your kids) a favor and download it pronto. It’s stunning. Stunning. Stunning.

Analog Enamel Envelope Pin

Analog mail pin

You know what makes me happy? Anything that celebrates analog mail! In this case, this beautiful Enamel Envelope Pin.

What makes me even happier is that this is a personal project by my Tattly Team member Sarah Anderson. She had the idea for the pins, designed them, had them made, set up a site, and boom, she is in business. I love the internets and friends that embrace the opportunities it brings. Yay for side projects!

Now, go buy a pin, yes?

TocaBoca Builder

My kids were lucky to get their hands on a not yet released TocaBoca app called Builders. I have never seen both my 7 and 3 year old more enthralled by a game. Ella kept shouting: “This is so much fun!”

And now that they’re sleeping, it’s my turn! Make sure to watch the above video to see what the fun is all about. The app is scheduled to be released on Thursday!

TocaBoca keeps impressing!

Pick Digicam

digicam

My seven year old is getting more and more interested in photography. This Pick Digicam might be a fun little camera for her to use on the go. Simply plug it into your USB port to charge or download images. Requires a Micro SD card which will give you hundreds of images on one charge. No batteries needed, works with both Mac and Windows!

Zoobean | Remarkable books for kids

zoobean

Zoobean helps parents find books that children can identify with (character background, age) or fits specific circumstances (bullying, death & loss, holidays, etc.). So, for instance, if you want to find a book about self-esteem that features African-American characters for a 4 year old, you can.

(thank you Matt!)

GameKlip

Two days ago I had the pleasure to meet all of this year’s Shopify Competition winners. One of the winners, Ryan French, left a huge impression. He is a student at the University of Washington, majoring in Applied Computational Math Science and the inventor of the GameKlip.

The GameKlip attaches your Android phone to a PlayStation3 controller and allows you to use a real controller to play your games on your smartphone. I’ve tried it, it’s all kinds of fantastic.

Ryan has single handedly built this business and created everything himself; the clip, the packaging, the site and he even currently still ships the items himself.

If you are a buyer for a big retailer, please reach out to Ryan. He is currently looking for large retailers to carry his product. He deserves to be picked up by a big chain.
