Yay! Codes

YAY! CODES! is a free service that makes it painless for developers to distribute promo codes to their customers.

Feel like this could be a service I came up with, given the color scheme and name. Just kidding.

Musical Democracy

Anthm turns your iPhone into a futuristic, handheld jukebox. Launch the app, start a party then you and your friends can add music into one playlist. You can request from millions (yes, millions) of songs. No need to use your own library of music, Anthm will stream all the music for you straight from Rdio.

Take 30 seconds to watch this video to see how it works.

We will be giving this a try at our studio tomorrow. Thanks for the find, Jonnie!

InstaMatch

InstaMatch turns your Instagram photos into a virtual Memory game on your iPhone and iPad. Fun idea, will give it a try when I get home tonight! (You don’t need an Instagram account to play InstaMatch, you can use other public Instagram photos as well)

Toca House

I had the honor to meet Toca Boca co-founder Björn Jeffery yesterday. If you have little children and don’t know about Toca Boca listen up: They make the most amazing, well designed and fun iPhone and iPad games for children. My kids (and myself) are obsessed with them. My favorite is the Toca Hair Salon. My son’s current favorite is the Toca Kitchen and my daughter can’t stop playing with the Toca Store.

During our meeting yesterday Björn gave me a sneak peek of their latest game Toca House which is supposed to be ready at the end of this month. It’s going to get the kids excited about cleaning! YES!

Congrats to the folks over at Toca Boca for having created a brand that I love and don’t think twice about downloading new apps.

I wrote about Punchfork before and was thrilled to learn that they just introduced an iphone and iPad app. I am in heaven!

It’s a fantastic way to discover the latest recipes and dishes that are trending on popular food blogs like Smitten Kitchen, Simply Recipes, 101 Cookbooks and more.

Also, check out punchfork.com. (Makes me want to get rid of all my cooking books.)

LetterMpress

Are you a lover of letterpress? Or do you simply want to teach your children the concept of it? Then you should check out LetterMpress, an app that lets you experience the art and craft of letterpress. Check out the tour or the video above and you’ll get the idea.

LetterMpress is available on the Mac Store and as an iPad App. (The iPad is 50% off for the month of december) Besides the use of a mouse and keyboard, the most significant feature of the Mac version is the high resolution that can be output, depending on your graphics card. Prints can be created as high as 8192 pixels in the longest dimension—that’s over 26” at 300 DPI.

Check out some of the designs users have shared on Flickr.

Appracadabra Apps

My kids love the beautifully designed counting app by Appracadabra. What makes me happy is that we have it currently set to count in Swiss German.

But they can also learn to count in Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Slovakian, Spanish and Swedish.

Get it from the App Store.

Copy Paste Character

Copy Paste Character did an impressive update to their site. Lots of new and helpful functionality. Plus, they launched an iPhone App.

Copy Paste Character let’s you copy the ‘hidden’ characters that come with the computer’s typefaces, so you can paste them into emails, tweets, text documents, forums and whatever else you might need to spice up with an extra ♔, ฿ or, ❒.

Copy Paste Character is developed in Stockholm, Sweden, by Konst & Teknik & Martin.

Toca Hair Salon

Now here’s an iPad Game that made me chuckle: Toca Hair Salon. It let’s your kids step into the shoes of a hairdresser. Cut, color, comb and blow-dry lifelike hair on four different cute characters. Using your fingers you can make any hair style you want! And of course – take a snapshot and save your creations! Quite amusing. I just played with it for 15minutes. Yep. I did.

Déjà Vu – Your Visual Memory

It looks as the Déjà Vu is the app I was missing in my life! I keep using my iPhone camera as a memory device, snapping photos of business cards, wine labels, books, products I want to buy etc. But I usually end up having a hard time finding them again in my overflowing photo album.

This is where Déjà Vu comes in. The app helps you remember things visually. Use the iPhone app to snap visual memos on the go. A simple interface and image recognition support you in organizing your visual memos. I am definitely giving this a try!
