foldable bed and shelf

I love the idea behind the “Scherenbett”, designed by swiss designer Kurt Thut.

Same with the “Scherenregal”. How practical when moving time comes around…

  1. great idea especially if you are a bedoin
    or a freshman college student

  2. Interesting idea… Is it sturdy? Looks a bit flimsy.

  3. Now that’s clever, I like it!

  4. Clever, but it’s a bit pointless to put such effort into a design when the major feature of that design will be used only rarely in the life-cycle of the item.

  5. Wait, when something goes on a shelf, it usually stays there — forever. Other than someone who moves 2 or 3 times a year, this would get unfolded and never refolded again! :-)

  6. This would be great for a business or individual that sets up in a lot of small trade fairs or booths. Not a merchandiser who has tons of product, but a headhunter or marketer who needs to carry all their literature and equipment in their trunk, but could use a little more space than a desktop to set up.

Would you say the same about an airbag in your car? Sometimes it is the least used aspects of a product which make them outstanding. This seems like a concept in the right direction… but could use some tweaks.

  8. Actually, this is a great idea for displaying products for sale at tradeshows.

  9. How does the shelf stay open?

  10. You guys thinking that the collapsing feature would only be used once or twice in a lifetime are discounting the market that it’s probably geared towards — the huge 20-30 something crowd that moves far more often than they would like or expect to. I would have certainly used this collapsing feature at least half a dozen times by now. Cool idea.

  11. Portable Bed for Those on the Go

Livin’ that vagabond lifestyle? Here’s an idea from Swiss designer Kurt Thut whose benefits become immediately obvious. Just don’t sleep on it without a mattress. If you like this, there’s also a bookcase that carries on the same collapsible porto-them…

  12. I’m going to university in a co-op program, so I’ll be moving almost every four months for the next four years, good idea, but still not portable enough for me, I’m from out of province. Good for people with vehicles and permanent residences nearby though.

  13. I’m 32, and I’ve moved a minimum of once a year since I was 18. the total is now up around 21, I think.

This bookshelf was built for people like me – people with books and far too many moves under their belt.

  14. Even if you assume people won’t move often enough to justify the design, another important implication of it is that vendors can store them in boxes the same size as unassembled furniture, and yet the pieces require, in essence, no assembly on the part of the buyer.

  16. Has anybody bothered to look at the prices? What a joke. I’m all for paying for art, and I’m all for convenience, but they’re charging art prices for IKEA quality. Nice try, but no thanks. Anybody who can afford this.

COMMENT BY SWISSMISS: what makes you believe that their furniture consists of IKEA quality? Also, those prices are in swiss francs.

Foldable bed and shelf [swissmiss…

  18. Foldable Swiss Furniture

It would suck if this shelf and bed combo were to fold up on you mid-use. This shelf, and a matching, foldable bed, were designed by Swiss designer Kurt Thut. Each product compresses to a fraction of its full size….

  19. 2000 franc = ~$1500 usd

  20. Foldable bed and shelf

This bed and shelf from Kurt Thut are really clever, if everything was foldable and moveable like this, I’d move and rearrange stuff more often… [via] – Link. Related: Kurt Thut – Link.HOW TO – Make an over-the-bed computer…

  35. But it is a critical part of having a balanced

  36. Some of them will require you to be pre-approved for a home loan from your local lender.
They will try to apply for the largest amount possible, but actually, this kind of decision can only result to headaches,
more expenses and possible foreclosure. After 1999, getting the loan has definitely become quite easy and one will definitely find that buying and selling through
the first time buyer home loans has become very easy as well since majority of such schemes are for the welfare
of the common people. There are two kinds of
home improvement loans available to choose from.
The quick round up of the feature will be easily furnished here,
and this is the point to mention that there is no need to get worried from where the tool will be downloaded.
It is, therefore , critical to consider all of these cost before
    settling for a mortgage.
