If you can’t find what you’re loooking for on Morguefile itself, they offer a link to various free or at least affordable stock photography sites… These sites come in handy when the budget is tight and all you need is some small imagery on a project.

Love this polaroid photo set on flickr by Fliegender.
I am thrilled about my first photo licensing agreement! Showtime TV knocked on my door and asked if they could license 5 of my images they found on flickr. The images will be used for Sho Next Id’s. (SHO Next is part of the Showtime Unlimited package and is geared towards a younger audience.)
I am thrilled. Thank you Flickr, Thank you C.!
I *very* much dislike evite.
There, I said it.
Evite invitations give me a rash.
I am wondering: Am I the only one?
And, is there a cool alternative out there?
(Dear friends, please do not stop inviting me,
I love to attend to your gatherings, it’s just one of
these ‘designer things’, you know?)
Looking for a great small hotel? Not too many choices yet, good idea though!

“Most time capsules involve cramming stuff into a metal box and burying it in a hole in the ground. It’s a method that works –but it’s so primitive. What if you could write an email to yourself, and be assured of receiving it twenty years in the future?
Send yourself a time capsule email….

I discovered “The Cooks Book” over the weekend. What a find! 18 top chefs explain all kinds of culinary techniques. Even basic ones are clearly explained with step-by-step advice. It’s heavily photo driven, wich I very much appreciate! If you’re into cooking, go and check it out! G and I ended up making pasta from scratch – YUMM!

Beautiful illustration work by Coraline Gillet.
She sells some of her prints over at Blau Gallery.

Hooray! I got my first issue of the german magazine called Brand Eins delivered to my mailbox. Thank you so much M!
Ever wondered how much your blog is worth? Here’s the answer!

“Miya Ando Stanoff is a minimalist metalworker; employing steel and pigment to create quiet, meditative environments. Working solely in two-dimensional metal panels, she is ultimately interested in the study of subtraction to the point of purity, simplicity and refinement.
Miya is a graduate of UC Berkeley and attended Yale University where she studied East Asian Buddhist Iconography. Half-Japanese and half-Russian, she was raised bilingually and in two cultures, living both in her family’s Buddhist temple in Japan and in Northern California. She comes from a tradition of metalworking, as she is the descendant of Bizen sword maker Ando Yoshiro Masakatsu. Her work appears in over 100 private and public collections, both nationally and abroad. She is currently based in the San Francisco Bay area.”
I hope I’ll be able to see some of Miya Ando Stanoff’s art work in ‘person’ sometime. Looks absolutely beautiful!
“Are these crazy pantyhose designed for a cloning experiment gone wrong? No, they’re a somewhat practical yet goofy looking solution to an age old problem. Ladies, you know what we mean; the dilemma of unsightly runs in your pantyhose. With Pantyhose 3x, you don’t have to carry a spare and chuck the old pair when you get a run or hole in your pantyhose.
With this ingenious design you simply (and discretely) rotate your leg into the new, unblemished pantyhose appendage. The damaged hosiery leg is then tucked into a pocket in the crotch of the pantyhose. Comfortable? You be the judge.”

I just discovered Upcoming.org – a social events calendar. I always knew there was a lot going on in NYC, but now, now I need a clone… or two!

Apple introduced Aperture, the first all-in-one post production tool that supposedly provides everything photographers need after the shoot.
Featuring a RAW-focused workflow, Aperture makes RAW as easy as JPEG, letting you import, edit, catalog, organize, retouch, publish, and archive your images more effectively and efficiently than ever before. From capture to output, you work directly with your RAW files, never having to first convert them into another format before viewing, adjusting, organizing, or printing them.
Looks and sounds promising: watch the quick tour.
I see that you can only pre-order it at this point? Did anyone of you get your hands on it already? If so, what’s your verdict on Aperture?
……….
On another note: What is up with the black background on Apples Apperture website? It makes me shiver. I feel like I am being sucked back into the web-80’s!
