alpha tee

12845_lg1_1

I own one of these and absolutely LOVE it! Back in ‘my single days’, I was always joking I would wear it to one of my dates and when going to the bathroom, I’d change the message on the front to indicate to my date whether this is going anywhere or not.

Alpha tee: It can say anything you want, just stick the reusable letters onto the shirt (velcro) and spell it out! Comes with 46 consonants, 18 vowels, 21 numbers, and 25 punctuation characters. ($30 at uncommongoods)

sledone

Sledone

Having grown up on the swiss country side, sledding has always been a big part of my winters as a kid. In Switzerland the wooden Davoser Sledges are prevalent. Now, that I am living in NYC, I am more ‘space concious’ and therefore give SledOne my thumbs up. I love the simplicity of its overall design! I am tempted to buy one to keep in my trunk – you never know when you might need sledge! SledOne

nyc transit strike part 2

I was just about to walk up the ramp of the brooklyn bridge, on my cold walk home after work, when I spontaneously knocked on the window of a white jeep, standing at a red light. A lady opened the window, and when I saw inside, I realized the car was absolutely packed. She was all apologetic: “Sorry, we’re full!” The car drove off and after just a few meters, it stopped, the window opened again and she said: “My friend is going to sit in the trunk, hop on in!” YAY! I entered a warm cozy car, filled with 5 lovely black women! They were angels that just dropped out of the sky! Not only did they drop me off right in front of my door, no, they will also pick me up tomorrow morning to take me back in AND home again. I am speechless over this level of kindness!

I love New Yorkers!

magnetic paint | it works

Yup, I’ve mentioned magnetic paint before. But now, I can report first hand, that it actually works! We’ve ordered a small can of Kling’s Magic Wall Paint and gave it a try, here in our office. It’s so easy and it really works! I can’t wait to paint a wall at home. What fun!

waking up to transit strike

Ny_dn

There we have it. There’s no public transportation today in NYC. Subway and bus conductors are on strike. I am getting ready to bundle up and walk into work. Ugh!

The transit workers’ union ordered a strike this morning, shutting down New York City’s subway and bus system after contract talks with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority broke down – a disruption that will prevent people from going to work, cause millions of dollars in economic damage and seriously upend the life of the city in the week before Christmas. …

The city’s contingency plan

…………

UPDATE: I bundled up, stepped outside, ready to walk into work… and just after a few steps, I was asked by some peeps in a limo if I would like a ride into the city. They were one person short. (Only cars with at least 4 riders were allowed to drive into Manhattan) “Sure!” was my reply. So, I got to comfortably ride in a a car filled with lawyers. Gotta love NYC!
