Burger King has introduced a new Facebook application that is getting lots of attention – “Whopper Sacrifice.” The concept is essentially this: delete 10 of your Facebook friends and get a free Whopper. Each time you remove someone, that action is broadcast to your news feed – apparently, not a big deal to users so far, as more than 50,000 friends have already been sacrificed. Hilarious!
Awesome! I could think of 10 friends fit for sacrifice….those whoppers are tasty…

Totally did this the other day, only to find out they won’t ship to Canada. Guess those friends got sacrificed for nothing. Hope my mom doesn’t mind.

haha that is so funny! just sent it to all my work buddies, saying that it is definitely worth a try, since most of their facebook friends are not their real friends anyway. harhar….

Oh man, I wish I would have known this before cleaning out my friends list last week!

can’t you trade them and resign them again?

All I can wonder is what reason they had for doing this. Why would a brand want to be affiliated with the idea of loosing/getting rid of friends?

If I de-friend 10 people a day do I get 10 orders of small fries?!

This was a great campaign, as Burger King found a way to capitalize on an already existing desire of Facebook users: To trim down their friend list.

I make a habit of culling “friends” every month or so. Wish I knew about this sooner and would have saved up.
