Online Shopping in the UK

Rion discovered some unexpected options, while online shopping in the UK. Note that Prince and Princess were also in the list. Made me smile.

  1. I work for UK local government and I have wasted many hours talking about what titles should be included in our online forms. These guys have taken it to a whole new level. Wing commander has always been my favourite :)

  2. Apart from it being a really big list, why should there even be a difference between “The Viscount” and “Viscount”, that’s just silly AND confusing. Plus “Rear Admiral” just sounds wrong, who would use that title .. seriously.

    Crazy Brits ;-)

  3. I ordered the Boden catalogue and chose “Lady” Maggie Keirsh but they mailed it to me Maggie Keirsh just. Ah well, a valiant effort

  4. Funniest thing I’ve read today (and this day is 30 min old).

  5. Hillarious. I was quite amused to discover the forms on the, UK based, site where I’m working right now have ‘Sir’, ‘Lady’, and ‘Lord’ as options, but this tumps those options by country mile :-)

  6. I love the English. I love living here.

  7. awesome!!

  8. Really funny lol

  9. I now get their catalogues delivered to ‘Wing Commander Graham’, which makes me smile every time I get one. :-)

  10. My father-in-law got a ‘Captain’ credit card by mistake once. He didn’t keep it despite my protestations……

  11. It’s very Boden. And very funny. Who said the class system was dead in England? Pah! I quite fancy Squadron Leader in a kind of shouty retro military way.

  12. They only fail to mention ‘Queen’. Doesn’t she shop online?

  13. Queen…she’s probably at the top, above “Rear Admiral”.

  14. Appropriate title would be “Her Majesty”.

  15. This sheds a whole new light on form design considerations.

  16. Yeah, just enter: http://www.gadgetfreechat.com and shop till you drop :)

  17. the states should adopt a couple of titles..!
    great post.

  18. Love it. This is exactly the kind of thing that makes me all giddy inside.

  19. Haha, I remember running into this when living in the UK. And my landlord DID actually use the title Wing Commander. It was kind of amazing.

  20. This is hysterical! Those crazy brits!

  21. Nice idea to engage visitors in decent a way..
