  1. What I love in this image is that there is such a echo to the past. The reason that around Battery Park can take skyscrapers is that it sits on granite. The skyline reduces to the right of the image as glaciers bore down on the granite and left a shale/sand mix – thus not supporting skyscrapers – which only appear further North. Just love the contrast of ancient and modern and we try and conquer nature – but can’t quite.
