A True Friend

“A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself — and especially to feel. Or, not feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them. That’s what real love amounts to — letting a person be what he really is.”
— Jim Morrison

  1. I think it depends on the context.

There’s a popular idea that a real friend “accepts you as you are”. i think that’s a dangerous idea.

A real friend will take a stand for you. A real friend will tell you when you’re not living up to your potential. A real friend will say, ‘You’re screwing up’.

That’s what I want in a friend. Maybe that’s just me.
