He was asked to think about all the people he has loved, the ones that made an impact on his life. And he said it would take too long to think through them. It would take infinitely longer to think of all the people who have loved him. He has made a tremendous impact on innumerable people through all his play and dancing. His love is multiplied to an unknowable number. Thank you Dick for loving us and letting us love you.
Oh goodness. I started watching this only to stop it, to put it on the TV to watch as a family. My wife Tina LOVES Mary Tyler Moore and anything adjacent. We love Coldplay (except for some of their recent work).
And then I love Spike Jonze. So this was warmly and emotionally received.
The YouTube algorithm started playing a concert version of “Fix You” immediately after which we were almost going to turn off, but we LOVE that song too. A minute or more went by and I gasped. Who’s on stage with them, but Michael J. Fox in a wheelchair with a guitar and he accompanies the band at the crescendo part. There could not be wetter cheeks in all the world. Wow. Wow. Wow.
Double whammy of joy. Bittersweet joy, but joy! Thank YOU, Tina.
