Levels of Agency

“There are two kinds of people after dinner:

Those who ask, “Can I help?”
And those who are already doing the dishes.

One sounds helpful.
One is.

This plays out on every team every day. Don’t wait for permission. Do the dishes”

  1. I kind of agree, but I prefer to think it’s people ask how they can best help. My ex and I have a tense relationship and a lot was because he constantly tells me the things he did for me, but none were actually helpful or desired. Maybe the person needs help, but not necessarily the dishes.

  2. I’m definitely in the 3-5 bracket. I am a dishwasher.
