My daughter is going nuts over the Tattly Candy Jewelry Tattoos we launched this week. The designs are by Julia Rothman and the unique sweetly scented fragrance was created in collaboration with Agilex Fragrances. Think light notes of vanilla frosting, candy corn, cotton candy, and all things sweet and delicious!

Words by Christoph Niemann

Words by Christoph Niemann

The mighty Christoph Niemann published a new book called Words. More than 300 words inspired by Dr. Edward Fry’s list of sight words are paired with playful illustrations. I am such a fan of his work! And Team Tattly is proud to carry some of his designs, the Petting Zoo is a favorite!

Universe App

universe

The makers of Universe stopped by at our FRIENDS Happy Hour last night and presented their new app. Everyone was blown away. What a beautifully experimental iPhone app they have built! They have most certainly created a new medium for the mobile world.

The app’s atomic unit is a verse, a 3×5 grid for infinite creativity: art, stories, interactive experiences, radical video collages, immersive soundscapes, musical instruments, even games. Or you can go the practical route and make a portfolio, invitation, how-to guide, recipe, or even a business card.

Download the App, look at examples, then learn how to use it.

I can’t wait to see my ten year old play around wit it! So many possibilities!

Zubits, Magnetic Shoe Closures

My son would totally approve: Zubits are magnetic shoe closures that easily snap together allowing the wearer to quickly put on or remove a pair of shoes without having to tie the laces.

Christoph Niemann Tattly

Tattly by Christoph Riemann

My favorite perk of running Tattly is that I get to collaborate with talented individuals like Christoph Niemann. Yesterday, we launched a new set with his designs, it’s called The Petting Zoo. And my kids are crazy for them.

I am a huge admirer of Christoph’s work. You might have seen his New York Covers, his Books or maybe you’ve watched his CreativeMornings talk.

And now you can wear more of his art on your skin. Enjoy!

Zip And Flip Bear Head Rest Black

This coming Friday I will be taking the kids to the Swiss Alps for our yearly sausage-eating-fresh-air-breathing-family-hugging-summer-vacation. Ever since they were little, they have been getting gifts on the airplane. It has been one of my secret weapons to keep them entertained. Simple, tiny surprises, such as stickers, post-itnotes and washable markers, tiny puzzles, etc. They’d get one whenever they would start go stir-crazy. Even though they’re older now and totally capable to entertain themselves, they love the tradition of getting little surprises. They don’t know yet that I will be surprising them with Kikkerland’s Zip & Flip Pillows. It’s a night flight to Zurich so they’ll come in handy. I can already see their smiles…

Tinybop: Skyscraper

The fine folks over at Tinybop launched yet another wonderful app: Skyscraper! It allows you to playfully contract your own skyline of buildings, send people up and down in elevators, spark a blackout or clog the toilet, fix a pipe or put out a fire and so on! The app was beautifully designed by Berlin-based illustrator Mike Ellis.

How To Roast the Perfect Marshmallow

u75g9ooaqu9suinqndwe

Roasting a marshmallow over a fire is a volatile task. If you’re not careful, you can burn it to a crisp, or get an undercooked center with a charred shell. Thanks Lifehacker for this post teaching us how it’s done.
