raising your kids bi- or tri- lingual?

New York Public Radio wants to hear from bi- or tri-lingual parents. How do you raise your children; do you speak to them in different languages? Were you raised to speak two or more languages? Leave your story here.

(thank you Peter)

  1. I was raised in a household where both parents spoke Spanish, but as a second language. My sisters and I all speak dodgy Spanish, but English is our primary tongue. It’s always been a touchy subject with us because it kept as at arms distance from “real” Puerto Ricans — you know, like all my cousins who are married with two kids by age 21.

However, if I have children I am going to do my best to raise them speaking Spanish, and anything else I can throw in the mix. (Latin lesson please!)
