Blue (Weather App)

blue weather app

My studiomates of Oak just launched the most beautiful weather app I have seen to date. It is called Blue and beautifully translates weather forecasts into a language of colors. The minimal interface provides a 36-hour weather forecasts relevant to your location. The hourly colors are generated based on three variables: temperature, humidity, and sunrise/sunset times for your current location.

I was blown away when I saw the app for the first time. This is a weather app I will actually enjoy using. And get this, not only is this Oak’s first venture into the land of iOS apps, they also built it in one week, during their stylish retreat in Los Angeles.

It’s actually an html5 web app that you ‘add to homepage’ from iphone’s safari. This means it can be a little slow at times, though (depending on your signal)

  5. Hi,
ever heard of solar? Seems even prettier to me

  6. I still prefer Solar.

  7. Love it! Just installed it

BUT- is there a way to switch to Fahrenheit and also add other locations?

  8. Love it.

Prior to this, I used Solar, which is also beautiful, but frustratingly slow to initialize on my iPhone 4. Blue loads up instantly and the ability to pause on the hourly pulldown when you take your finger off the screen to go back up makes it much less fidgety to use in real life.

I’ll keep Solar for the ability to add additional cities, but this is much more practical for day to day use in my opinion.

  9. This looks great. I’ll give it a try. Thanks for sharing.

  10. OK, sorry, not seeing it.

I want to see what it does under conditions other than pretty much perfect cloudless days. Show me 36 hours in snow country, with a blizzard. Show me 36 hours with a rainstorm in the middle of it.

This graphic is … almost useless… in seeing what the app does.

All I can see in what it does is nothing but a color bar related to temperature. Not what I’d call particularly informative or interesting.

Not saying that’s all it is, but it’s hardly visible from the video.

    :-S

  11. Take a look!
this made by an danish graphic student

  12. Check out Solar… even more stunning in IMO.

  13. I have been surfing online greater than 3 hours these days,
yet I by no means found any interesting article like yours.
It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all site
owners and bloggers made just right content material as
you probably did, the net will probably be much more useful than ever before.

  14. I got this web site from my buddy who told me on the topic of this web page and now
this time I am browsing this site and reading very informative articles at this place.
