Paris versus New York

Paris versus New York is a friendly visual match between those two cities, as seen by a Parisian-based-and-lover on New York details, cliches and contradictions. Absolutely fantastic.

  1. lovely, but… that X in espresso gives me the creeps. really. hope the autor sticks to americano. or coffee. or water.

  2. The x gives me the creeps too. Nice idea though

  3. Did anyone else notice that espresso is referred to as “expresso”. Typo alert!

  4. Apparently I’m not the only one with that pet peeve. =P

  5. Although it’s not the common spelling, I found “expresso” in the dictionary. Listed as “variant spelling of ‘espresso.'” Hmph.

  6. Variant spelling indeed, everyone knows the x is for eXtreme.

  7. Il est surtout dommage que dans “l’eXtrême” ..représenté ici par 6 personnes, qu’il n’y ait semble t’il, qu’une d’entre elle qui ne sache ouvrir un dictionnaire français !

  8. Maître, my last comment was meant as a joke, but you are right I apologise. As espresso is not an English word (much like we use baguette) I guess we assumed it was a typo. Sorry.

  9. fantastic expresion

  10. Spelling and typos aside I really like these. Good sense of humour in them.

  11. :) from a parisian who lived in NYC and might end up a forever dame ;)

  12. oh i love this site, what a find. too fun. =) the espresso/expresso thing is interesting. i was going to comment that it is in fact spelled with an x in french, but glad maître capello stepped in. the power of nespresso is such that i wouldn’t be surprised by the french questioning the spelling themselves ! thanks for sharing yet another gem.

  13. LOVE THESE, does anyone now which typeface is this?

  16. In Paris people call espresso “un express”, hence the x.

    get out more, people!

  17. Expresso is French for espresso, duh! :)

  18. Note: All words on the left image are in French, including the French word for espresso “expresso.” Really people, a spectacular display of oversight. What a spectacular idea. Bonne idée pour un livre!
