I Did That.

“You should bring something into the world that wasn’t in the world before. It doesn’t matter what that is. It doesn’t matter if it’s a table or a film or gardening — everyone should create. You should do something, then sit back and say, “I did that.’”
- Ricky Gervais

  1. Indeed! Everyone who visits this site is a regular creator, I’m sure of it.

  2. Does bringing a kid to the world count ? ;)

  3. After reading that Ricky Gervais was probably the last name I expected to see. Such a great quote though.

  4. Theoretically this sound good – but there is a bit problem with being so additive, namely that we only have a finite amount of resources/attention/willpower. Therefore always ADDING something to the world is not necessarily a positive – what about meaningfully taking something extraneous away?

    In the words of Zen:
“In the pursuit of intelligence every day something is gained. In the pursuit of wisdom, every day something is let go”
