  1. that’s a beautiful drive. my folks live in sedona – there’s plenty of stuff that’s easy to find around there, definitely take some of the side roads out of sedona and find a nice place to hike/walk/amble. if you want me to be more specific, let me know. however, the drive from sedona to phoenix is less exciting than from slc to sedona, so i suggest a stop at the weird but charming art commune called Arcosanti, which is about 2/3 of the way to Phoenix. It’s not a long stop, but it’s something to check out in the long empty stretch. There are also some cool indian ruins around Sedona, which are amazing if you’ve never seen anything like that. Montezuma’s well is just outside sedona on the highway you’ll take heading south. I eat mom’s cooking when I’m there, so I don’t have much in the way of recommendations, but there’s some kickass mexican food in phoenix. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  2. sheesh, where is my brain – and Taliesin West in Phoenix. But I’m a Frank Lloyd Wright house junkie. :)

  3. Thank you so much Rebecca! Much, much appreciated!

  4. When in Salt Lake try the Red Iguana for a great Mole Poblano. And and it should be obvious but get up into Little Cottonwood Canyon for some good ol’ spectacular mountain stuff…

    enjoy…

  5. Visit Lake Powell. It is other worldly and beautiful. And the National Parks in Southern Utah are unbelievable. Zions, Arches, and I can’t think of the other names. And while you’re in Utah, make sure you have some french fries with “fry sauce.” I think Utah invented the stuff and it’s addicting. Travel safe.
