The 1500+ inmates of Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Cebu City, Philippines, doing Michael Jackson’s Thriller routine… Is this for real? (If so, I wonder though how they determined who gets to perform Michael.)

Prolly cause he is the only one with a long haired “girlfriend” prison mate!

If you think the video is crazy, the backstory is even better. The director who is posting the video on YouTube is the warden of the prison, Byron F. Garcia. Go back to the video on YouTube and you can click on his name to see the other performances he made his prisoners do.
He regularly reads the comments at YouTube and actually takes requests. In fact, the Thriller performance was the result of a request by a commenter in an earlier performance video at YouTube.
Here is an article about the CPDRC prison at Viceland.

Here’s an op-ed he wrote in a local Cebu paper on his views of incarceration and prison construction.
