Gut

Being a big believer in following my gut feelings when making decisions, I wasn’t surprised in reading this fact:

Did you know that one half of all our nerve cells are located in the gut? You have as many neurotransmitters there as you do in your brain. Your gut produces 95% of the serotonin in your body, and can function even if it’s detached from the spinal cord. (Read The Second Brain, by Michael Gershon, for more details.)

  1. You and G.W.B. eh?

Sorry I couldn’t resist, and at least God isn’t talking to you.

  2. I’ve always suspected that this!!

  3. A very interesting book on this subject: „Bauchentscheidungen: Die Intelligenz des Unbewussten und die Macht der Intuition (Gut Feelings: The Intelligence of the Unconscious)“ by Gerd Gigerenzer – highly recommended!

  4. Whenever in my life I listened to my guts – honestly listened with feelings of hunger or hangover aside – it’s proven to be the right thing for me.
Even when I’m directing, all decisions are made by my guts and then I try to find the arguments to back it…
