The Powers of Ten

Where was I hiding all these years? I can’t believe I have never come across The Powers of Ten, a short film by Charles and Ray Eames.

  1. That one’s great, but there are a lot of inaccuracies (which is to be expected, given how old it is).

Here’s a great updated version (narrated by Morgan Freeman):

  2. There is an accompanying book that goes with the video that I purchased at a high school book sale some 6-7 years ago. It’s a fantastic book, and you’re more than welcome to borrow it. If you want to take a look, I’ll bring it to the next event we happen to both attend.

  3. This is a great little film. I can remember watching it in an IMAX theater a long time ago.

  4. Gasp!

This was definitely shown in every science class i took from elementary to high school…thankfully;)

  5. Same subject, up-to-date information, take a look at “The Scale of the Universe”

I remember being blown away as a kid back in the 90s.

  7. A geeky, yet funny, twist on the topic:
    “Powers of One” http://xkcd.com/271/

  8. Ah, I love it. I remember having seen it in school. There is even a book. Also very great!

  11. Looks like someone else loved this and has made a video response competition offering for first prize $2,000 cash and a Eames Molded Plywood Lounge Chair (Value $1,250) amongst other things..

    Should be fun to watch.
