Kevin Blanc, a fellow swiss designer here in NYC, who will be renting my desk for the time I am on maternity leave starting next week, is the proud owner of this amazing MIH Watch. I had me gasp. It’s *such* a beauty.
It is the official watch of the Musée International d‘Horlogerie (MIH), the international museum of watchmaking, which is situated in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The watch is unlike any you may have encountered in museum shops. The MIH Watch personifies the mission of the museum, which is to convey to a broader public the importance of horology, and of mechanical watchmaking in particular. The MIH Watch is not being produced by a watch brand on behalf of the museum, nor does it already exist under some other name. It has been designed from the ground up and incorporates a mechanism that you will not find in any other watch. The MIH Watch has a mechanical movement and its casing is fashioned from high-grade titanium.
Absolutely stunning: MIH Watch.
i want it! :)

Brilliant watch. At 5,000CHF though, most of us will have to make some tough choices.

It quite literally made me gasp, even before reading the description.

Beautiful. Looks like it owes a debt of gratitude to Dieter Rams and Braun watches, e.g. the AW22

Stunning is a good adjective. This watch is going to cause me to loose sleep. But at just over US$4600, it’ll likely remain a dream :)

This is a stunning minimal homage to the swiss rail way watches. Not sure if it would replace an Ikepod megapode date chronograph on my wish list since the Ikepod might just be the less expensive option!

For those who like modern Swiss watches, check the amazing Mondaine watches designed after Hans Hilfiker’s work for the Swiss Railways

But if you want it as a screensaver, there it is

Actually, there are two dots, if you look more closely at the first picture. It’s a AM/PM indicator helping to correctly set the time of the watch: One red dot – AM , two red dots – PM .

5000CHF and they can’t make the day/date line up correctly?
And it’s so clunky – no self respecting Swiss watch maker can be satisfied with a massive chunk of metal like that – where’s the finesse?
And the face is derivative of so many other watches.
What a pile of overpriced overhyped tat

WOW… hans… obviously you dont know the MIH history, who are the masters behind the design, movement development etc. So sad to see comments like this!!!

Han’s may wish to check out Volker Vyskocil’s watch. Finesse, unique, elegent, slim not clunky all the bits line up, and that’s just movment…….Have no idea how much it costs though but there does not seem to be much Hyp, so far.
