It’s a great msg, but just as a minor point: ‘Make do and mend’ isn’t really ‘by’ Gail Bryson as such. It’s a famous British WWII slogan, from the same school as ‘Keep Calm’ etc see eg http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8224494.stm
