  3. Given all the things that understandably arouse anger in us — personally and politically — kindness is more than critical. I especially try to be kind at the end of an angry conversation, assuring the person I’ve been angry with that it’s not his/her fault, it’s the situation that’s beyond the control of both of us. Occasionally I’ve made the other person laugh.
