I just got my hands on a ZigZag City Guide New York. It’s a guide made for kids. It comes with beautifully designed cards filled with fun facts, history, and activities to do. Also available in an edition for San Francisco, London, Rome and Paris. Really adorable! Can’t wait to show it to E and T.
JAM – Online Courses for Kids
I am continuously impressed by what Zach and his team are coming up with. First DIY and now JAM: online courses for kids. I wish this would have been around (and the internet) when I was a kid, growing up on the Swiss country side, *so* hungry to learn and connect with other kids. Can’t wait to see what other classes will be next! (Secretly hoping for a sewing class!)

Team Tinybop did it again. They just launched Infinite Arcade and it’s blowing my mind! It basically allows you (or your little ones, of course) to create your own Arcade games. Start out with a classic game to build on and then add building blocks like hot lava, disco bricks, crystal, trampoline tiles etc. And, the best part: you can design your own characters. I know what I am doing this weekend! Get the game!
Small Steps Are Giant Leaps
This touching father-son photo project made my heart melt a bit: Aaron Sheldon documents his four year old son as he discovers the world wearing an astronaut helmet. The helmet symbolizing how astronauts are brave and face their fears, this little four year old braves and discovers the world astronaut style.

The latest Tinybop app is perfect for my six year old who is obsessed with hurricanes and tornadoes. Weather lets you mix elements and make the weather. It lets you experiment with air and wind, the sun and temperature, water and precipitation. Like all their other apps, Weather is beautifully executed and a big hit at casa swissmiss.

My favorite Nightlight
This GRDE LED nightlight is one of my favorite practical objects in my house. Never thought I’d say that about a nightlight. It gives off just the right amount of light so that my kids feel comfortable in their rooms AND it charges our devices. Total win win!
Missions for your little one
The folks behind Red Paper Plane believe that “Missions” are a whole new way to learn and play for little ones. They created mission based design challenges for the whole family, based on a creative process – 20 minutes per day for several days. This is fantastic! Especially for snowy winter weekends!

A Kids Room Dream

Smart Portable Kids Car Seat
I have been saying for years that I will throw a party once my kids are over the car seat stage. This smart car seat, called Mifold has me ridiculously excited. It’s a tiny booster seat for kids, only instead of lifting the kid to the position of an adult, it pulls the seatbelt down to the correct height for the child. Brilliant!
I wonder though how comfortable it is for the kid sitting on it…
Whitings Thermo
Withings Thermo will make parents around the globe rejoice! It is a handheld device that looks about the size of a toothpaste tube and lets you take a person’s temperature by simply holding the device to one’s forehead. 16 infrared sensors will go to work, taking individual readings to find the hottest spot on the person’s skin. A light vibration indicates it has completed its reading, at which point the results will be displayed in either Celsius or Fahrenheit via an embedded LED display.
Thermo Thermometer is supposed to be available sometimes early this year. I can’t wait. (I am already a big fan of their Home Security System)
