Very Semi-Serious is a documentary aiming to go behind the scenes of the New Yorker. It introduces the past, present and future generations of cartoonists who have inspired, baffled—and occasionally pissed off—all of us for decades.

The wonderfully charming Lucien Zayan runs The Invisible Dog Art Center in Brooklyn. He has turned what used to be an old building filled with junk into a cultural center. A few years ago, Lucien was visiting from France, fell in love with the building, saw the potential and got to work.
He has since filled the Invisible Dog with so much passion and love for the arts that I happily call him the King of Bergen Street. It’s people like him that add so much to a neighborhood and to a community.
Lucien hosts art exhibits, a theatre, artist studios and a space you can rent for events. We have hosted a CreativeMornings there in the past and in just a few weeks Brooklyn Beta will have their third conference at The Invisible Dog.
As you can tell, I am quite fond of the institution and Lucien. He is a man with a heart of gold. He deserves all the support in the world. Join me in backing The Invisible Dog on Kickstarter?

I am just so excited to be able to share our Kickstarter Campaign with you, that literally JUST launched!
After attending several conferences over the past few years, I felt like there had to be a more accessible event that was really just about bringing likeminded people together. So, I started CreativeMornings. One Friday morning a month, people in the creative community gather to hear a speaker share their story. The best part is that the coffee, the breakfast, the lecture — everything is free.
CreativeMornings was in four cities only a year ago. Now we are at 34 chapters and span six continents, thanks to our hard working hosts all around the world.
So here’s the problem. 34 chapters means 34 talks every month. We never planned for CreativeMornings to grow like this. We’ve been taping these talks all along, but as of now they are spread across the internet. It kills us that there are videos from hundreds of leading designers, artists, chefs, entrepreneurs, and no good place to see them all.
Here’s why I am turning to Kickstarter. We have the potential to create a growing archive of stories, ideas and advice from remarkable creative minds across 34 cities, but we need to start building it now.
Your support, no matter how big or little, will help us build a new home for all of the CreativeMornings content.

Astro adds pan and tilt movement to your camera, and it allows you to set up time lapse programs by defining the duration, the range of movement; which goes from 0 to 360°, and the interval in degrees or seconds in which you want the photos to be taken.
I am happy to see that this Kickstarter project has already reached its goal even though it still has 16 days to go.

He meets a girl who doesn’t own a cellphone and is as disconnected as he is connected. As their relationship develops, he falls in with a group of entrepreneurs out to invent the future, but it’s the same future she’s rebelling against. It’s a story about the human side of technology—the people who make it, the reasons they build, and the people on the other end.

My friends behind the Feast Conference are cooking up something big: The World’s Largest Global Dinner Party.
They’re inviting innovators and instigators everywhere, doers and entrepreneurs of all ages to host a literal Feast of their own for six or more friends at 7pm local time on October 5, 2012. (That’s the final day of The Feast Conference.)
The goal is simple: By the end of dinner, collectively decide on one thing you all can collaborate on to improve the world (whether it’s renovating the park or supporting an effort to redefine an industry!)
Now here’s the kicker. Akin to the original World’s Fair, they want to then host a giant public pavilion in NYC the very next day (October 6) to cap off this roaming dinner. Kids, families, and anyone from the creative community will be able to explore your ideas, enjoy food, music, performance, and get inspired by some of today’s most amazing innovations.

I had the pleasure to see Alvaro Soto demonstrate this beautiful lamp called Blime Light at last night’s Apartment Therapy Design Evening.
Blime Light is a DIY light fixture that ships in a teeny tiny box and then can be assembled at home. They are currently running a Kickstarter campaign and are offering a whopping 24 colors in card stock paper and a white version in 100% recycled and recyclable vellum. Totally backing this! Join me?
