Today’s ‘Creative Mornings’
=
Today’s ‘Creative Mornings‘ was a big success. We had a great turn-out and enjoyed a fantastic breakfast sponsored by our host HUGE.
Creative Mornings Co-Host Carl Collins spoke on the fascinating topic ‘Unproduct‘. (We are converting the video of Carl’s presentation and hope to have it up early next week!)
Pictures of the event can be seen here. Wave to our virtual guest Joe Bauldoff!
Mark your calendars, our next Creative Mornings will be on November 14th. Topic and venue will be announced shortly.
UPDATE: Carl just sent over some links to articles and sites/services related to ‘Unproduct’.

DUKTIG Child’s Coffee/Tea Set from IKEA
Jen beat me to it, in posting about the DUKTIG Child’s Coffee/Tea Set from IKEA. I was so excited to discover this designy tea set last weekend, as I can’t get myself to buy one of those cheesy plasticy pink tea-sets you mostly see. We bought a set and put it to the pretend-play-test right away. While I love the looks of it, I must say that there is a downside of having a ceramic teaset. Whenever Ella drops a cup I crinch and say “Sorry, neighbors” and am afraid it might break and she’d cut herself. But it’s just so darn cute looking! (and yes, I realize it says Recommended for children 8 years and older on their site!)

I met Andrew Zuckerman. Thank you internet!
I had one of these ‘thank you internet moments’ last night when I had the opportunity to finally meet much admired photographer, Andrew Zuckerman. The occasion? The launch of his a-m-a-z-i-n-g Wisdom Book book and film. This gem of a book will be under many of my friend’s and family member’s christmas trees this year!
Andrew, it was a pleasure meeting you and your wife!
SOLo Lounge Table
The SOLo Lounge Table by iF collects solar energy to power personal digital devices. During the evening, internal LED lights provide an intimate glow. It can harness approximately 73 kilowatt hours of solar energy every year in a typical outdoor setting (using southern California as an example). This amount of power provides the equivalent of over 100 mobile phone or iPod charges per day, 40 iPhone charges per day, or 3 laptop computer charges per day (or 12 hours of laptop operating power per day based on a 4-hour average battery life) – all without draining traditional, overextended sources of energy.

Checking email can be as addictive as gambling say experts.
In a study last year, Dr Thomas Jackson of Loughborough University, England, found that it takes an average of 64 seconds to recover your train of thought after interruption by email (bit.ly/email2). So people who check their email every five minutes waste 81/2hours a week figuring out what they were doing moments before. … Checking email can be as addictive as gambling say experts.
